KulTour Kramsach
With this route you can explore the most interesting institutions and sights on the subject of art and culture in Kramsach in one day and combine it with an easy hike. You will be amazed at what all emerges in such a small area.
Start at Kramsach/Achenrain bus stop (bus) OR Sonnwendjoch car park (car + bike)
Start at the car park of the former Sonnwendjoch mountain railway downhill towards the tennis hall (Länd 68). Past the tennis hall you will see a yellow house with a steep roof on the right side at the crossroads to Brandenberg. The "Troadkasten" (Achenrain 17) is located in this yellow house. Walking time from the car park to the Troadkasten is about 10 minutes.
Start at Achenrain bus stop - the Troadkastn (Achenrain 17) is in the direction of Brandenberger Straße. At the junction that veers slightly to the left, turn off. In a yellow house there is the Troadkastn, it is on the left side and unmistakable. Walking time about 2 minutes (220 meters). An exhibition place for contemporary, international art from the fields of sculptures, objects and installations. After the Troadkastn (viewing duration about 45 minutes), continue towards Brandenberg where a beautiful wooden bridge appears on the left side which leads over the Brandenberger Ache. Until 1966, the Brandenberger timber floating, one of the largest timber floating facilities in Central Europe, operated here. Walking time about 3 minutes (250 meters)
After visiting the wooden bridge, continue towards Brandenberg. On the left side is a turnoff to Mariathal, if you follow this street, you will find the Pilgrimage Basilica Mariathal. The church was elevated to a minor basilica by Pope Benedict XVI in 2008. The Catholic pilgrimage church impresses with its baroque architectural style. Walking time about 10 minutes (800 meters)
After visiting the basilica (viewing time about 20 minutes), continue towards the sculpture park. Stay on this side of the Ache and follow the path through the forest. After about 300 meters, there is a bridge on the left side, go straight through the forest here until you arrive at the sculpture park. On the 8,000 sqm exhibition area, the large sculptures of Gironcoli pupil Alois Schild look like strange creatures amidst untouched nature. Walking time about 10 minutes (700 meters)
After visiting the sculpture park (viewing duration with landscape enjoyment and bathing fun in the Brandenberger Ache about 1 hour), take the short way back to the aforementioned wooden bridge. Cross the bridge over the Brandenberger Ache. To get to Hilaribergl Monastery, after the bridge you must go left towards the lift car park. After the guesthouse Liftstüberl, at the end of the gravel car park, a path leads into the forest. Follow the fitness mile to Hilaribergl Monastery. In 1689, a Carmelite founded a hermitage with the chapel Maria on the Carmel. The pilgrimage church was altered in 1746 and rebuilt in 1910. Walking time about 35 minutes (2.1 km)
If you continue on the forest mile, simply follow hiking trail No. 7 towards Hagau. The path ends just behind the Funny Cemetery / Museum Cemetery Kramsach. (Funny Cemetery). Over 100 grave crosses with curious and cheerful inscriptions. No one is actually buried here. The crosses come from the collection of the stonemason master and saw tooth smith Hans Guggenberger. You will also find here a series of pictures of the "Dance of Death" as well as the "World Peace Cross" by Gotthilf Fischer. Walking time about 25 minutes (1.5 km)
