Want to see the Alpbachtal from above? The two local summer mountain lifts make it possible: the Wiedersbergerhornbahn in Alpbach and the Reitherkogelbahn in Reith im Alpbachtal. Reitherkogelbahn in Reith im Alpbachtal
From Reith im Alpbachtal, spacious 8-seater gondolas take you to the top station of the popular family mountain Reither Kogel in just a few minutes. Smiles are guaranteed in the magical world of Juppi’s Enchanted Forest and the circular trail that leads you there is suitable for buggies, of course. Outdoor enthusiasts will love the huge variety of hiking routes on the Reither Kogel and the Liftcafé Heisn is a great place to stop for a bite to eat when you are back at the bottom station.
Wiedersbergerhornbahn in Alpbach
To get a breath of Alpbach mountain air, climb on board the Wiedersbergerhornbahn 6-seater gondola. You float over the treetops towards the Wiedersberger Horn where the adventure forest playground Lauserland with the popular Alpbachtal Lauser-Sauser awaits you at the top. A hiker’s paradise in the midst of the Kitzbühel Alps also lies at your feet. From the high-alpine ridge hike for experienced mountaineers to the leisurely family hike – there are plenty of tours to choose from.
Tipp: The sunrise ride to the Wiedersberger Horn is the ultimate mountain experience.
Wildschönau mountain lifts
The Schatzbergbahn takes hiking enthusiasts up the Schatzberg in modern gondolas. From the mountain station, you can hike up to Gerngipfel or Joelspitze but also explore the Schatzberg loop.
After only an eight-minute ride on the Markbachjochbahn from Niederau, you reach the mountain station – a popular starting point for hikes. Both challenging and short, leisurely walks and tours start there. The hike to the Roßkopf is particularly popular, from where you can enjoy a marvellous view over the Wildschönau and the Inntal valley.
Be sure to visit the Holzalm. Cheese is made there according to old traditions and can also be bought on site. There are also regular guided tours around the Käsealm.
Operating times
You're drawn to the mountains in spring or even in autumn - but in many regions you're standing in front of closed gates at the mountain lift gondola stations? This is not the case in the Alpbachtal! The long operating times of the summer mountain lifts from mid-May to early November allow you to enjoy extended hiking - even in the low seasons.
