Alm hike Inneralpbach
Beautiful half-day hike from Inneralpbach to Stettauer Alm and back via Zirmalm
The Alpbachtal with its rustic alms is a hiking area for eyes and palate in the Kitzbühel Alps. The snack in the backpack tastes even better on a rustic alm or right on an alpine meadow than at home. Body, mind and soul can really relax on this hike. Above all, families can enjoy a beautiful hike with their children.
Hike with shady ascent and further over the extensive alm area of the Stettauer Almen
From Inneralpbach towards Zirmalm and Mountain Farmers Museum; behind the museum follow the signs "Galtenberg", upwards to the "Alplkreuz" (forest crossing). Now downhill to Stettauer Alm/high pasture, further to the lower pasture and then down the valley via the hunting trail back to the starting point.
Did you know...?
For many of the original alms, the exact construction date can no longer be determined – too many centuries have passed since then. The Stettauer Alm is such a case. However, it is confirmed that it is between 400 and 500 years old. Because there was not enough fodder gained in the valley in the past, farmers had to extend pasture farming to the high mountains. A few so-called home cows remained in the valley, the rest of the cattle spent the summer months on the alms. In this way, over centuries, the characteristic cultural landscape of the Alpine region was created. To this day, the Stettauer Alm fulfills its original purpose and houses dairy cows. Not much has changed at all: even the old shingle roof still exists, which is held together by rubble stones instead of nails. The ancient building can be closely visited on this comfortable hike.
