EXPERIENCE A JOURNEY THROUGH TIME IN A TYROL OF THE PAST

The largest open-air museum in Tyrol

The Museum of Tyrolean Farms is located near Lake Reintal in Kramsach. You can literally walk in the footsteps of the past and complete a hike through the whole of Tyrol in 1.5 hours.

EXCURSION WITH THE WHOLE FAMILY

One of the most popular excursion destinations in the Tyrol

The museums unique location makes the visit a nature experience and a refreshing excursion for the whole family. 14 farms and 23 outbuildings were removed from the most diverse valley landscapes in Tyrol and faithfully rebuilt in the nine-hectare museum landscape.

You can walk into the old farms and acquire knowledge with all your senses. Standing in the small, rough-hewn rooms, you can feel the breath of history, the magic of the past.

Chickens and sheep live in the museum. Interactive stations give visitors an insight into the life of the farmers of the past.

Our favourite place

On a walk through the open-air museum visit the historic farms and outbuildings from all Tyrolean valleys.

The small school at the Zenzl farm is particularly worth seeing. Go to school just like in the old days. A great experience for the whole family!

Highlights at the Museum of Tyrolean Farmhouses

  • Farm life in the past: In seven farms, people or their lives in the past are projected onto the wall in the living room, kitchen, etc., so that visitors can better imagine what farm life was like in days since gone by.

  • Platforms made of larch wood: at gorgeous spots in the large grounds, the platforms provide great views over the museum grounds!
  • Adventure areas especially for children:
Building a wooden house, how to milk a cow, fairy tales, nutrition bandolino - correctly assigning food, wooden pig puzzle - which piece of meat belongs where, match wooden cubes with the correct parts of a costume, inheritance law - using a scale, various things have to be divided up "fairly".
  • A film showing how a farm was dismantled and rebuilt is shown in the entrance area. There is also a large Tyrol map on the floor with the 14 farms marked on it. The founding fathers of the museum are also introduced!
  • The small school at the Zenzl farm - go to school like in the old days!
