Zireiner See from Aschau/Wimm
Great but also demanding hike from Brandenberg to the natural jewel Zireiner See and on to Kramsach due to its length
On this high alpine, demanding mountain route with the impressive Rofan backdrop, you hike to the legendary Zireiner See. The hike is somewhat challenging, but hikers are rewarded along this route with magnificent panoramic views of the surrounding mountain world.
The highlight of the round is the Zireiner See: It is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Tyrol and is idyllically located in a mountain basin. From there, you have a fantastic view of the Rofan range with the mighty Rofan tower as a focal point.
On this route, you walk on forest roads partly over alpine meadows to the alpine area of Aschau. After about 45 minutes, you reach Anderl´s alpine hut, a popular place to rest where a good snack, a refreshing drink, and stunning views await you.
After refreshing yourself here, you can continue the hike to the Zireiner See. The Zireiner See is known as the "Blue Eye in the Rofan" and, due to its impressive beauty, is one of the most photographed mountain lakes in Austria. After resting at the Zireiner See, continue over the Bayreuther hut and the mountain alm to Kramsach. From there, return to Brandenberg by taxi or car.
