KulTour - Hildegard von Bingen hiking trail (barrier-free)
The Hildegard von Bingen path takes you on a discovery journey through Reith im Alpbachtal and opens unexpected views into the extensive world of one of the greatest and most important women of the Middle Ages. The hiking trail is adapted to be barrier-free for people with mobility restrictions.
This scenic and wheelchair-accessible route first leads to Tyrol's first show and recreation garden dedicated to Hildegard von Bingen in the flower village Reith im Alpbachtal. The beautiful medicinal plant garden was designed according to holistic aspects in the sense of Hildegard and invites you to linger. It aims to be an open place of self-discovery for everyone, a reminder of one’s own sources of strength.
Continuing the path, you soon reach the Samer Bench at Seerain. There, the hiker can immerse in silence and feel the power of this spot before reaching the "Leaf Shape" viewing platform. From here you enjoy a magnificent view of the castles below in Matzenpark. When the view extends further, the Rofan Mountains open up majestically with their impressive peaks.
Past the art and antiques shop Galerie Schmidt, the Hildegard von Bingen path continues towards the village center.
Via Seeleitweg, you go directly into the village center of Reith im Alpbachtal. Along the way around the Reither Lake, benches invite you to linger again. A look through the Visholos placed there brings you closer to the four elements, let yourself be surprised. The village view with the lake in the center will enchant you.
In the village center, you find cafes, restaurants, various shops and banks, as well as public toilets. These toilets can usually be reached quickly from the hiking trail around the center. The tourism information office is located directly opposite the town hall. From there, follow the village street southwards and at the village crossroads turn left again back to the Reitherkogelbahn. Here you will also find public toilets during the operating hours of the Reitherkogelbahn.
The visit to Reith i.A. promises enchanting flair and leaves visitors of the Hildegard path relaxed, with new ideas, possibly for their own garden.
“All of nature should be at man’s disposal, so that he may work with it, for man can neither live nor exist without it.” Hildegard von Bingen.
