3-Summit Route Alpbach
Experience three summit crosses with magnificent panoramas. Great circular hike with little elevation gain
The circular hike starts at the Holzalm in Brixlegg (district Zimmermoos). The trail leads west on a flat forest path to the unmanaged Außerhauseralm. From here it goes uphill to the first summit cross at the Bischoferjoch. The view towards Alpbachtal and Inntal with the Rofan mountain range in the background already makes every hiking heart beat faster!
Next, the route continues towards Hochstrickl. The hiking trail from Bischoferjoch to the next summit cross is short, but quite steep. So, pace yourself! After about 40 minutes, the reward awaits: a cozy clearing with a rest area and summit cross! The view is indescribably beautiful, and everyone decides for themselves how long to stay for a break here.
But the summit of the Gratlspitze is already calling, so head up to summit number 3! Along this section you will sometimes look into the Inntal and then back towards Alpbachtal. Just before the summit cross, you will see a clearly visible viewing bench on a small hill. A selfie at this favorite spot is a must. The entry in the summit book should not be missed here either. The path to Gratlspitze is definitely worth it. From here you have a 360° panorama. If you count exactly, you can see 26 church towers and over 800 mountain peaks.
The way back leads down the fastest way to the Holzalm. Along this route, it is also worth stopping a few times to enjoy the view. Almost around every corner, another perspective of the impressive Tyrolean landscape awaits!

- Holzalm - Bischoferjoch: 2.5 km, 150 m ascent, 80 m descent, approx. 40 minutes walking time
- Bischoferjoch - Hochstrickl: 0.6 km, 210 m ascent, 10 m descent, approx. 40 minutes walking time
- Hochstrickl - Gratlspitze: 1.3 km, 180 m ascent, 10 m descent, approx. 40 minutes walking time
- Gratlspitze - Holzalm: 1.9 km, 0 m ascent, 440 m descent, approx. 45 minutes walking time
