ADVENTUROUS GORGE HIKE

Spectacular hike through the gorge

When temperatures rise, your sunglasses are within reach and you're wondering when the "too hot to work" rule will be put into effect in the office, you urgently need to cool down. In the Alpbachtal you will not only find cooling breezes on the mountains, such as the Wiedersberger Horn or the refreshing water at the numerous lakes, but also shade and cool air on an impressive hike through the gorges.

The Kaiserklamm in Brandenberg is an absolute nature's spectacle for all outdoor fans. The gorge provides for an exciting adventure for kayakers and white-water sports enthusiasts. The Kaiser Gorge is still an insider tip among the excursion destinations in Tyrol.

Due to safety reasons, the gorges are not accessible in Winter (13.11.2023-30.04.2024) and on days with heavy rain in summer.

Hiking through the Kaiser Gorge

Once you arrive at the Kaiserklamm car park, a 300-metre-long forest path leads to the entrance of the gorge.
You can already hear the gushing sound of the turquoise-green water flowing down the Brandenberg Stream. An approx. one kilometre long narrow path leads through the narrow rock of the Kaiser Gorge.

The further you go into the Kaiser Gorge, the more impressive, rugged and varied the route becomes. Here, the power of the water can be experienced particularly well.

The damp climate of the steep sloping rocks makes the well-secured path somewhat slippery, so good walking shoes and caution are required. Although, admittedly with this scenic backdrop, one is easily distracted.

During the hike you will also pass notice boards informing about the use of the gorge as a timber drift. Until 1966, the power of the Brandenberg Stream was used to transport tree trunks from up high into the valley.

Afterwards, the path widens again, the stream broadens and the landscape mellows.

You will find many beautiful places to relax at in the midst of diverse nature and maybe you find the courage to dip your feet into the cold water of the Brandenberg Stream or find a charming spot for a picnic.

The hike through the gorge is free of charge!

Be sure to pay a visit to the Kaiserhaus afterwards. Emperor Franz Josef II and his wife Empress Elisabeth visited the gorge in the Brandenberg Alps and spent the night in the Kaiserhaus. Hence the name: Kaiserklamm. At the Kaiserhaus inn there is also a large adventure playground for children.
